Establishing and managing a health club can be a fun and fulfilling business to run. Helping people meet their fitness goals, working in an environment that is supportive and healthy, and getting to know customers and clients are some of the reasons that people decide to open health clubs. There is a lot to be done when running a club, including purchasing and maintaining equipment, hiring staff and recruiting members. It is also important to purchase club insurance. Health clubs have unique insurance needs, and a club owner or manager should talk to a reputable commercial insurance agent or broker to discuss specific needs, liabilities and budget restrictions.

Exercise studio insurance plans generally cover smaller spaces with specific missions. Studios usually have less than 3,000 feet of space. Services provided often include yoga, pilates, personal training, aerobics and other fitness classes, kickboxing, cycling and stretching. Teachers or other fitness professionals supervise all of the classes and activities that take place in an exercise studio. Exercise studio insurance plans insure the club and the staff for any liability on-site and offsite in case any training is done at another location, such as a client?s home.

Circuit training health club insurance is also available as an option for clubs that focus on circuit training. These facilities are also expected to be no larger than 3,000 square feet. Be sure to get extra protection for your club if you have childcare facilities, sports instruction or physical therapy. Circuit training insurance will exclude those programs, and you and your facility will not be covered. Consider a different, more expansive insurance policy if you need coverage for anything outside of specific circuit training.

Total health club insurance is available for clubs of any size. This type of coverage is available for clubs that include free weights, exercise classes, resistance machines, circuit training and personal training, and cardio machines. Like the exercise studio insurance plan, this type of policy will cover you and your staff on-site and offsite. Rates will depend on the size of your club, the number of machines and staff you are covering, and how much income the health club brings in. Some plans will limit income to 0,000 annually.

It is important to protect your business investment, your financial security, and the customers and staff who rely on your health club. Make sure there is enough insurance coverage in place to cover any possible accident or event that can happen in your club. Most experts recommend at least million in liability coverage. Talk to your insurance company, or a professional insurance agent to make sure all of your policies are enough. If necessary, increase your club insurance, even if it costs a little more now. It will save you money and lawsuits in the future.
